Prep With Purpose: BJ Toal

ARE YOU NEW TO #PrepWithPurpose?! For backstory on what this is all about please read the original blog entry and/or Instagram Post.

Hey Friends,

I'm 2 weeks out from my first show this IFBB season - Salt Lake City Showdown! I'd like to say that I'm excited ... but my health is kind of stealing my joy. I had a major flare up Sunday night/Monday morning that almost sent me to the emergency room. I of course ASSUME it was related to my Celiac Disease .. but so many things are just not adding up. Because of that I am going back to see doctors and demanding that they look at things BESIDES Celiac and IBS-C. I have two appointments next week .. which will be a start. I know it will just be a bunch of "waiting"on blood work to come back and getting in to see specialists .. but it's a start. Well .. it's a start-over I guess I should say.

I know if I have to back out of this competition it's not the end of the world. It's the beginning of the year and there are many more shows I can compete in. But I've prepared for this one and my heart would be broken. With everything going on it can be hard to find motivation and I find myself moping. I'm so glad I have this little Prep With Purpose project. It reminds me to be grateful for the health that I do have and the ability God gives me to get up each day and be physical. It allows me to use other peoples urgent needs as motivation and more than anything use my fitness platform to hopefully help others in need of healing.

This weeks person we are "lifting up and for" comes from a singer/songwriter that I know from back in Nashville. She posted a plea for prayers for her relative BJ Toal...who is an athlete fighting for his life.

PREP WITH PUROSE: BJ TOAL

24 year old BJ Toal is college wrestling champion and fighting for his life after he was brutally attacked near an ATM on 4/1 in Missouri.

According to family ... doctors had to remove part of his scull and BJ's brain is swelling. His organs are having a hard time continuing to work because of all the medications he has been placed on to make the swelling go down.

The family is asking that we pray for BJ in general, but specifically pray that this swelling goes away.

Every rep and every stride I take this week will be in honor of BJ. I will pray for God to heal him and for the recovery he has ahead. I hope you join me in lifting up and for BJ and using his story as a reminder that life can change in an instant ... be grateful for your ABILITY!

XoXo
