#PrepWIthPurpose - August 10, 2016: Olympic Gymnast Samir Ait Said

For backstory on what #PrepWithPurpose is all about please read the blog entry and/or Instagram Post.

Hey Friends,

It's been a couple days. I hate not having a Prep With Purpose every single day .. but on occasion I just don't have one to post and circumstances keep me from searching for one. That was the case the past couple days. I was traveling back home from Tampa Pro on Sunday only have to help my husband get packed up to fly to China for work 12 hours later! He is still recovering from pneumonia and I hate that he had to leave/travel!! Monday I spent a lot of time praying for him to have safe travels and be well. Yesterday I experimented with some new recipes and tried to relax some after a hectic travel schedule! Of course I was training! Man .. there is such a difference in my motivation when I don't have anyone to lift up/for. But I tried to be my own motivation and spent some time focusing on myself, each movement, what is ahead and what I achieved over the weekend. Top 10 at such a huge show (9th) is a great achievement. I'm ready for what is next!

I've been so busy I've not had a chance to watch much Olympic coverage, so I didn't know about the French gymnast that snapped the lower part of his leg during a vault landing until late Sunday. It's so sad. I can't imagine .. all that work .. for it all to end during qualifying. But Samir Ait Said's attitude is so admirable. In interviews he says as soon as it happened he knew it was over .. but instantly started thinking of Tokyo in 2020. So today when I lift .. I will think of Samir and lift up and for him. He obviously would give anything to be competing right now ... instead .. his dreams .. literally .. taken from him in a "snap".

Prep With Purpose - August 9, 2016: Olympic Gymnast Samir Ait Said

We have all seen the story by now and most of us have tried to avoid the images of Samir's double open fracture of the tibia and fibula. The 26 year old Olympian had to undergo immediate surgery. Doctors say the surgery went very well and that young gymnast is expected to recover well.

In fact, they say they expect him to be able to return to gymnastics in a reasonable amount of time and Samir has vowed he will come back with goals of competing in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic games. In an interview he said .. "Believe me the adventure of Tokyo-2020 is still alive and once I'm up on my feet again we're going to continue training and go for this Olympic gold."

In the interview he said that midst his misfortune it was an "extraordinary moment" hearing the crowd cheer for him.  Wow .. what a great attitude! A true athlete right there!

I'm kind of in "limbo" right now as to what is next for me. Looking like I am doing a mini reverse and will pick back up in a couple months with a string of shows late summer/fall. But you know I'm not slacking in the gym .. or on that football field for HIIT ... which will be limited until I go back on "prep". In fact, I think today will be a cardio only day. So I'll be back out there sprinting .. extra grateful for the use of my legs. Extra motivated. Feeling extra blessed for the abilities that God has given me today :)

I want to continue this project/prayer chain. But I'm finding myself spending HOURS searching for people to "lift up and for" because I'm not getting any requests -- I know you guys have to know someone (or have heard of someone) with an ongoing or urgent need for physical healing?
Please send me all details possible, a pic if they don't mind sharing, etc. simplystacyfitness@yahoo.com
