Hey Friends,
It's a great day to be ALIVE ... isn't it?! Despite NON STOP texts and phone calls keeping me from getting much sleep (people KEEP forgetting I'm in a different time zone now) ... I woke up yesterday feeling lean, mean and ready to get the day going!! My body is responding well to our pre-peak week plan and I'm ready to kill this final week of prep before I step on stage at Team Universe on July 1st! Ahhh, I can't believe it's almost time to start my 2016 season!!!!
Yesterday I did something RARE for me. I did a "two-a-day" training split! I never do this. I'm a once-a-day trainer. But the week before my show the number of times I do HIIT cardio usually goes up a tad and I get a couple extra "off" days from lifting. Because of the way it's structured... there may be one or two days where I may have to do both cardio and a lift in ONE day (this is rare for me as I usually ONLY do cardio on OFF days from training.) So yesterday .. I did my cardio in the morning and my lift in the evening. I did this because my preferred form of cardio is sprints on a football field and since Vegas is seeing 110+ degree temps this week .. I wanted to get it done early .. as my gym time in the evening is actually when we hit the "peak" heat here in the desert! I did sprints at night under the stars on Sunday and enjoyed it .. so I could have done that post lift .. but my husband has been out of town all week and I wanted to be home last night to spend some time with him! Not to mention .. it was leg day! I'd rather not sprint following a lower body lift, haha! So our PREP WITH PURPOSE person got TWO training sessions in her honor yesterday! I sure hope they felt the double-time love :)
We were lifting up and lifting for little Arlie. You can read her store HERE. I got an update yesterday that her chemo went well and because her labs were good .. she actually got to GO OUTSIDE and enjoy the sunshine!!! Here is a picture!! Her mom said "Birds and squirrels have been the highlight of our day☀️."
Ahhhh.....that warms my heart to know she wasn't stuck in that cold hospital all day!! You know what else is special about this update? If you saw my SnapChat yesterday .. then you heard me say that I would NOT complain about the sun/heat while I was sprinting because all I could think about was poor little Arlie and how unfair it is that she can't be outside enjoying the sun. Well .. at that moment ... I had NO IDEA of this update! But they were happening around the same time :) Pretty cool, huh?
Moving on to today ... Day 19 of this little project. Cancer is once again the topic for today's PREP WITH PURPOSE. Today join me in praying for Hannah Jackson. She is only 23 years old - turns 24 on July 6th. Let's send her some big well wishes leading up to her birthday!
Prep With Purpose - Day Nineteen: Hannah Jackson
On May 24th Hannah Jackson went onto her social media and made a post I'm sure at her young age she NEVER thought she would have to write. She made an announcement to her friends that she had been diagnosed with a type of cancer called Sarcoma.
She had spent over a month in and out of doctors appointments - having scans and consultations. Doctors discovered she had had tumors on her left kidney, spine and bladder. Then only a couple short weeks later she found out that those tumors were indeed cancerous. Her doctors have been very pro-active in kicking this thing's butt. She has
already started chemo and had meetings with specialists at Vanderbilt. Her Facebook page says that she had another round of chemo just a couple weeks ago. This first one day treatment went well, but the second treatment was much more intense. It was a 5 days, 4 hours each day and she had many of the "chemo" side effects (sick, disoriented, etc.) Hannah will continue chemo every 3 weeks. Alternating between one day and five day cycles. Her next "due date" is July 5th and July 25h - 29th. That will continue again in August. Hannah says her BIG prayer right now is for her 12 week mark in August. That is when doctors will check the size of the tumors. She is praying for COMPLETE HEALING and asks that you pray with her .. believing that God is able.
Hannah's attitude is amazing. All of her posts are SO positive. She states that she has peace and knows that God is sovereign and in control of the situation. She says that while the journey may not be easy .. she has seen the joy and peace of the Lord like never before :) Her most recent post even states that she has never been more JOYFUL than in this season of her life. Wow .. gives me chills! What an amazing young woman! I admire her attitude, strength and faith during this horrible process.
Today I will lift in honor of Hannah. I will send her good vibes and lift her up in my prayers. If I find myself complaining, not wanting to push myself or lacking motivation ... Hannah will be my "go to". Her story will remind me to be grateful for my health and ability! As you have seen over the past 19 days .. cancer doesn't discriminate. It (or any tragedy) could hit any of us .. at any time. Life is short .. we are not guaranteed another breath. Please don't take your health for granted and whatever you do today .. do it for Hannah!
One of Hannah's friends set up a Go Fund Me page to help Hannah and her family with medical expenses. As I've said in other posts that include links asking for money .. Please know that I do not know this person, or the person asking for money .. so I can not vouch for them. I simply include the link in case you feel led to donate!
XoXo,
Stacy
I
hope you are joining me on this prayer journey as I prep for #TeamU on
July 1st & 2nd! If you are please post/share and use the hashtag
#PrepWithPurpose! Let's get a huge prayer chain going and in the
process maybe make the sport of bodybuilding less about "me, me, me" and
a little more about helping others! Our motivation doesn't have to come
from ONLY ourselves!
If you know anyone that needs urgent or
ongoing prayer for any physical reason please email me all the
information and a picture (or a few) to simplystacyfitness@yahoo.com.
