#PrepWithPurpose -- Day Four: Brandy Kite

For backstory on what #PrepWithPurpose is all about please read the blog entry and/or Instagram Post.

Hello Everyone,

It is 110% certain .. without a doubt .. the devil is doing everything in his power to keep me from doing this little project!!!!

As I mentioned on Day Two,  I woke up on Sunday (my first day of Prep) with some lower left back/upper left glute pain. Each day I've managed to use my Rad Roller products and alter my workouts just a little (but still do exactly what I am suppose to do without altering the "plan".) Well .. last night was different. I couldn't do it. I physically could not do the final portion of my workout… which was burpees.

Let me start by saying this. If it's on the plan ..  I DO IT! I don't care if it's off season or prep season. I don't care how tired I am. I don't care how unmotivated I am. If it's part of the plan .. I DO IT ALL!!  I can not remember a time in TWO YEARS that I've left the gym before completing everything I planned to do just because I wasn't feeling it, had too much to do, was lacking motivation, etc.  If it's 10 sets .. I don't stop at 9 just cause I'm tired. If it's 6 sets of sprints .. I don't care if I'm DYING and it's 103 degrees (like it was Friday) .. I don't stop at 4 or 5 because I'm exhausted. So to actually BE ON PREP and NOT be able to do EXACTLY what I was suppose to do … I felt like such a failure!! I didn'tfeel this way just because it's grind time .. I also felt like I let Kathy down (the woman we prayed for yesterday.) She was suppose to be my motivation, my workout is in her honor and I simply COULD NOT physically do the final thing required of me. As upset as I was … I had to be smart (not stubborn) and realize if I kept on doing something that truthfully HURT ... I could cause more damage and not be able to train at all! So I listened to my body and stopped doing the burpees. I could have gone home .. but instead I found something else to do for those final few minutes that wouldn't cause me pain. I wasn't going to just give up all together! So I guess … pray for me too. Pray that my back/glute heals so that I can stick to the EXACT plan from now on and continue to give these workouts my all in honor of others!!

Okay .. moving on! Let's get to making this world a better place, shall we?!

Prep With Purpose -- Day Four:  Brandy Kite

I ask that you join me in praying for healing for a young missionary named Brandy Kite. Brandy and her family have been raising money to be missionaries in Africa! But she has now faced a major set back after falling inside her home and sustaining a MAJOR injury.

My motivation for today's lift (which is the most grueling of all my workouts all week long) will come from Brandy and my lift will be in her honor. I AM ABLE and she is not. I will NOT take my health for granted. I am grateful for the abilities that God gives me. I ask that God guide the doctors and nurses that are taking care of Brandy, that He wrap His arms around her family and friends and not only heal Brandy quickly, but ease her pain and stress as much as possible.

Brandy fell off a ladder and fractured her skull (3" y shaped crack) and broke her spine in two places. Doctors told her that she would be lucky to ever move anything from the waist down. BUT she is already proving them wrong!!! She's currently confined to a wheelchair - which is life changing - but she is making some progress!

Here is her most recent update as of June 7th.

I have two immediate prayer requests:

1. Prayers for a expedited process to receive my permanent wheelchair. It's been 9 weeks in the "reviewing" phase which should have happened in 45 days. This is URGENT as I don't want to take a loaner chair overseas
2. My back hip muscles and glute muscle HAVE to start firing up so we can strengthen them in order to GET LEG BRACES which will help me walk :-)

In addition to status updates, Brandy has also been posting very touching progress videos on her Facebook page. Brandy and her husband have three children (girls ...ages 9, 7, and 5.)

I hope you are joining me on this prayer journey as I prep for #TeamU on July 1st & 2nd! If you are please post/share and use the hashtag #PrepWithPurpose! Let's get a huge prayer chain going and in the process maybe make the sport of bodybuilding less about "me, me, me" and a little more about helping others! Our motivation doesn't have to come from ONLY ourselves!

XO
Stacy
