Details Released for Dolly Parton "Coat Of Many Colors" Holiday TV Special

NBC HAS ANNOUNCED THAT IT'S UPCOMING HOLIDAY FILM "DOLLY PARTON'S COAT OF MANY COLORS" WILL AIR THURSDAY, DECEMBER 10TH 9pm ET. PRODUCTION SET TO BEGIN THIS WEEK IN ATLANTA. 

“Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors” is based on the inspiring true story of living legend Dolly Parton’s remarkable upbringing in rural East Tennessee. This once-in-a-lifetime movie special takes place inside the tight-knit Parton family as they struggle to overcome devastating tragedy and discover the healing power of love, faith, and a raggedy patchwork coat that helped make Parton who she is today. The film is set in the Tennessee Great Smokey Mountains in 1955. It is neither a biopic nor musical about Dolly’s whole life and performing career, but rather a family-oriented faith-based story about the incidents in her and her family’s life around the time she was 9 years old. Three cast members were recently added to the production, which begins production this week in Atlanta. Jennifer Nettles will play Parton’s mother, Avie Lee Parton. Nettles is one of the most popular singer-songwriters in music today. As the lead singer of the duo Sugarland, Nettles has sold more than 22 million albums, achieved eight #1 singles and has won numerous awards, including trophies from the Grammys, AMAs, ACM Awards, CMT Music Awards and CMA Awards. In addition, Nettles debuted her first solo album in 2014 which went to #1 on the country charts. Adding theater actress to her already impressive resume, Nettles made her Broadway debut in February as Roxy Hart in the Tony Award-winning musical “Chicago.” Gerald McRaney, one of the most respected actors of his generation, will play Grandpa Jake Owens. His career includes roles in several critically acclaimed television dramas — “Deadwood,” “Southland” and “House of Cards” — and he currently co-stars on the Western series “Longmire.” He will also co-star on the upcoming TNT series “Agent X.” McRaney was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award as part of the cast for both “Deadwood” and “House of Cards.” Ricky Schroder will portray Dolly’s father, Lee Parton. Schroder has had a lengthy career dating back to when the actor was 9 years old and won a Golden Globe for his role in the heartfelt boxing film “The Champ.” He was SAG nominated both individually and as a member of the cast of the Emmy Award-winning police drama “NYPD Blue” and had a co-starring role in the Emmy-winning drama “24.” As previously announced, Alyvia Alyn Lind will portray 9-year-old Dolly Parton. Alyvia most recently had a role in the Lifetime movie spoof “A Deadly Adoption,” with Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig. She has also appeared in “Masters of Sex” and “Transparent.” “Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors” is written by Pamela K. Long. She executive produces with Sam Haskell and Dolly Parton. The film is a production of Magnolia Hill Entertainment and DP Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. FOOD FOR THOUGHT: I am so excited! I am going to host a viewing party for sure! I usually have a weekend "pajama" themed Christmas party with a bunch friends ... but not this year! My friend list has dwindled since my passion for health increased (lol) .. so I will just invite a few close friends that cherish Dolly as much as I do, cook a healthy dinner for everyone and bake some yummy 1st Phorm protein desserts and have a couch party with all eyes and ears glued to NBC!! Dolly Parton Announces 'Coat of Many Colors' TV Movie

In an effort to bring family friendly television back to prime time, Dolly Parton has announced she will partner with NBC for a TV movie about her life.

Dolly Parton made a surprise announcement in New York on Monday. A TV movie about her life is coming soon to Primetime TV. 

Coat of Many Colors will be the first of a planned series of TV movies to air on NBC that will aim to dramatize some of the country legend's best-known songs.

Named after her song of the same name, the two-hour, made-for-TV movie will follow the true story of her upbringing in Tennessee's Great Smoky Mountains. According to the film's official description, the special "takes us inside the tight-knit Parton family as they struggle to overcome devastating tragedy and discover the healing power of love, faith, and a raggedy patchwork coat that helped make Dolly who she is today."

The premier date and cast have not been announced. Parton and her longtime friend and former agent Sam Haskell, will serve as executive producers on the project. 

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: If you know anything about me .. you know I LOVE Dolly Parton. I've had the honor of interviewing her numerous times. She even gave me marriage advice in one of our one-on-one interviews a few days before my wedding several years ago. She is just as down to earth and kind as you imagine she would be. I don't know anyone who doesn't like Dolly .. so I'm sure this will be a big hit! I know that I will be tuned in! May even have to have a little watch party :) :) 

Nelly Arrested In Tennessee

"E.I .. E.I .. Uh Oh" (like what I did there, lol.) Hip Hop artist Nelly, whose legal name is Cornell Hayes, was arrested on Saturday in a small town in Tennessee. The superstar was arrested on felony drug charges and according to the State of Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security, was charged with felony possession of drugs, simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Nelly was sent to the Putnam County jail on Saturday morning after his Prevost motor coach bus was pulled over on I-40 for failure to display a U.S. Department of Transportation and International Fuel Tax Association sticker on the vehicle.

When the trooper approached the vehicle, reports state he noticed an odor of marijuana coming from the bus and conducted a probable cause search. According to the police report, the troopers discovered methamphetamine, as well as a small amount of marijuana and other drug paraphernalia, 100 small Ziploc bags that are commonly associated with the sale of narcotics and numerous handguns, including a gold-plated 50-caliber Desert Eagle pistol, a 45-caliber Tarus pistol, and a 500 magnum Smith and Wesson.

Several other people were on the bus with Nelly, including 44 year old Brian Jones of St. Louis, who is a convicted felon and was in possession of a fire arm. He was also arrested and transported to the Putnam County jail.

The bus was on it's way to St. Louis when the traffic stop occurred.

Food For Thought: I bet "It's Getting Hot in Herre" has new meaning for Nelly tonight - as his butt sits in a tiny little Tn jail. I mean .. pot .. okay .. whatever I guess?! But freaking METH?! What the hell was/is he thinking?! I interviewed Nelly a few years ago on the CMT Red Carpet (he was at the Awards Show performing with Florida Georgia Line) and again about a year ago when he did a tour stop with the country duo. He was really nice and they put on one heck of a show. He's got talent that is FOR SURE. Most "stars" of his caliber don't really care to interview with anyone unless they HAVE to and he certainly didn't have to chat with me. So ...I'll give him that. But seriously dude ..  FREAKING METH!?!?! So stupid .. so, so, so STUPID!

Taylor Swift Out and About in Nashville with Popular DJ

Taylor Swift was seen Thursday evening grocery shopping in Nashville and she wasn't alone. 

Twitter, TMZ and just about every other entertainment outlet went crazy after a couple of fan social media pictures went viral Thursday night.

 

Swift was seen at Whole Foods in Music City with popular electronic Producer/DJ Calvin Harris. You may not think you know him .. but I bet you know his song "Summer" .. so good!!



Just a few hours later, Swift was seen with Harris again at the Kenny Chesney concert at Bridgestone Arena (fan pic on perez hilton) where she jumped on stage and sang a duet with the country star (fan twitter pic)

So are Calvin and Taylor dating? Are they here recording together? Several media outlets have "sources" saying he flew here just to see her while she is in town rehearsing for her big tour .. but who knows. One outlet says she was in Vegas at the popular nightclub Hakkasan watching Harris DJ and was also spotted with him at the 2015 Brit Awards in February.

What we do know is that Swifts 1989 World Tour kicks off in about 2 months. Oh and she also surprised fans and jumped on stage at the Kenny Chesney concert :)

As for Harris, he is said to play some sort of role in the new Entourage movie .. in theaters this Summer. Swift fans googling "who is Calvin Harris" will get a little treat. He recently made headlines for this shirtless selfie, lol.

Simply Stacy's Food For Thought: I am hoping he is here because they are doing some sick remix of one of the fabulous tracks off her most recent album. But they would make an attractive/talented couple. Plus .. if Taylor attends more of his shows .. we may get to see more videos of her awkward dance moves :)

Carrie Underwood Welcomes Baby Boy Into The World And Tweets The Big News To Fans

Four days after giving birth, country star Carrie Underwood breaks the baby news herself - she has given birth to a healthy baby boy! 

Underwood, 31, gave birth on Friday. She shared a little bit of Isaiah Michael Fisher with the world, sending out this photo on social media, saying "Tiny hands and tiny feet .... God has blessed us with an amazing gif! Isaiah Michael Fisher - born February 27th."

Underwood announced her pregnancy on Labor Day with a precious picture of her pups wearing "big brother" and "big sister" t-shirts. A couple of months later, Underwood revealed the gender of her bundle of joy LIVE on the CMA Awards. Well actually, co-host Brad Paisley broke the news during a funny skit! So it is only natural that the blonde beauty announce this amazing news herself! 

Underwoods gym clothing line CALIA is arriving just in time for her to look fab while getting her pre-baby body back .. which we know she will do in no time! CALIA launches on March 5th at Dick's Sporting Goods Stores. 

Entertainment News: Drake Drops New Album Out of Nowhere

In the middle of the night music fans got a nice surprise! Drake released a full studio album called - If You're Reading This, It's Too Late. 

Maybe the project wasn't totally unexpected. Rumors have been circulating for some time that he was going to release a free mixtape. The surprise is that it's not a free mixtape. It's a full 17 track album and is available for you to purchase on ITunes .. now! 

Fans have kind of been on watch since this morning when Drake released bits of the new music in a 14 min short film called Jungle about the price of fame and the point of life. The film features bits of the new music.

Jungle is the title of one of the 17 tracks. It also features collaborations with PARTYNEXTDOOR, Lil Wayne and Travi$ Scott.

We are listening to his new body of work here at our house and I can tell you that it certainly seems to be a very nice surprise indeed!

Super Bowl Jeep Commercial has Nashville Ties

This shouldn't come as a surprise, since Nashville is the home of some of the best singer/songwriters in the world, but according to my buddy and USA Today writer Brian Mansfield, the voice of the 90 second Jeep Super Bowl ad is Marc Scibilia. Marc is a Nashville singer/songwriter that will be releasing his major label debut album later this year. 

Scibilia performed the rendition of Woody Guthrie's This Land Is Your Land that played during the car companies "Beautiful Lands" 3rd quarter commercial.

The 28 year old released a four-song digital EP back in 2013. His major label debut was proceeded by Butch Walker, who is known for his work with my personal fave P!nk. 

According to Mansfield's USA Today article, which you can read HERE, Scibilia bought a  TV this afternoon just so he could watch the commercial and the game! In case you missed it -- here is Marc performing the song on his YouTube channel! 

Congrats Marc! Can't wait to hear more of your music later this year! 

Entertainment News: Country Icon Brenda Lee Teams Up with Victorias Secret for Sexy Super Bowl Ad

Okay, okay ... the 70 year young Country icon isn't going to be seen in sexy lingerie, but her sultry voice is going to be heard in this years 30 second Victoria's Secret Super Bowl ad!



So move over Katy Perry, "Little Miss Dynamite" is proving that great artists and great songs always endure!

The teaser released today shows the Angel's in their signature lingerie while Lee's "I'm in the Mood for Love" plays in the background. While the models aren't wearing any sports themed gear, the tag line for the ad is sports-ish  .. "LET THE REAL GAMES BEGIN"

The commercial will make it's debut in the fourth quarter of the big game this Sunday. Entertainment News: Carrie Underwood to Sing at Super Bowl XLIX

Carrie Underwood Playing a Big Part in the Big Game

Country music songstress (and queen of a killer set of legs), Carrie Underwood, will sing a special opening theme at this weekends Superbowl game.

Underwood has sung Sunday Night Football's "Waiting All Day for Sunday Night" theme since the beginning of the 2013-2014 NFL season, but this Sunday she will star in a special "Waiting All Day for a Super Bowl Fight" opening theme. The special opening features new and different elements from Underwood's usual SNF opening, including a special set design and lyrics featuring the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks.

Underwood is no stranger to the Super Bowl. She sang the National Anthem at the 2010 game.

Super Bowl XLIX goes down in Glendale, Arizona this Sunday. Coverage begins at Noon(et) on NBC!
