Prep With Purpose: Matt Lovell Gunshot Recovery

For backstory on what #PrepWithPurpose is all about please read the blog entry and/or Instagram Post.

Hey Friends,

I had a feeling when I stopped doing a new person DAILY and changed Prep With Purpose to weekly/bi-weekly that I'd let it slip and get OUT of the habit of posting. SURE ENOUGH .. I did and I feel HORRIBLE.

The holidays, a new year, new things happening and just LIFE in general kinda made me forget how important this project is to me. I actually didn't forget .. in fact .. part of being busy is that I've been brainstorming some ways to GROW Prep With Purpose. But in doing that I neglected to keep the project going ... which is very counter productive! So I promise I'm going to be back to posting them regularly.

It makes SUCH A DIFFERENCE in my day when I get up and know that I'm dedicating my day/lift to SOMEONE else ... tI will be lifting up someone in need and serving something more than ME, ME, ME!! Also having that reminder that I AM ABLE and SHOULD BE GRATEFUL for my ability is such motivation. I still may not be posting someone new every day and that is okay! It just means that ONE person gets MORE lifting up for a longer period of time! The biggest problem is getting/finding REQUESTS!! I can't blog about someone if I don't have anyone to feature! So if you know someone (or have seen/heard of someone) that has an urgent or ongoing need for PHYSICAL prayer/lifting up, or if you know someone or an organization I can connect with that maybe can continually send me people to "lift up" ... please email me!! simplystacyfitness@yahoo.com

If you need a reminder as to exactly what Prep With Purpose is and how it originated - or maybe you are new to my blog - you can read my ORIGINAL BLOG ENTRY to learn more! While I'm not prepping for any show (yet) ... we all are prepping for something each and every day of our lives!! We are all at work, in the gym, raising a family (many all three) and need motivation to push through each day! Prep With Purpose is a great way to find that motivation and pray (or lift up to whatever higher being YOU believe in) for someone in need!

I'm grateful that several people sent me requests this week. So no time like NOW to get back going!

We will be lifting up and for a Nashville songwriter recovering from a gunshot wound. His is a story in which ANY of us could be the victim. One moment healthy and fulfilling dreams and the next fighting for life due to a senseless crime. Be grateful for your health and ability and lets lift up and for Matt Lovell.

Prep With Purpose: Nashville Songwriter Matt Lovell

On Friday January 20th, Matt Lovell spent the day songwriting with a dear friend.  He was leaving East Nashville just before 8pm when a stranger approached him in his car with a gun. Matt got out, and was shot directly in the chest by the carjacker.  He was alone, and found the strength to walk a block into the nearest bar to ask for help.  He was taken to Vanderbilt and had surgery to address internal damage.  The doctors were quite amazed that the bullet did not hit his heart or puncture his lung.  He is doing well and is so grateful to be alive. However it will likely take months before Matt is fully recovered and able to work (and make music) again.

This is the most recent update on his Go Fund Me Page:

In the first moments of waking up from a six hour surgery 10 days ago, Matt shared with us that while being transported in the ambulance from East Nashville, he asked the Emergency Medical Team if he was going to make it - their reply was, "we don't know son, but we will do all we can." Through tears, he told us in that moment he thought he very well may die, and his mind immediately embraced the real possibility that soon he would see the face of God. He said, "Mom and Dad - all I felt was peace and love." The next cognitive realization was that "I may never see my family and loved ones again." He said this was the thought that made him sad. But, again - it was LOVE he felt - because he knew that he had known genuine love in this life and lots of it, and he was enveloped in the LOVE of God in that otherwise isolated ambulance ride.

He shared how throughout his life, thoughts of death brought fear. But, when he experienced firsthand looking death in the face - it was not a fear-filled thing because of the presence of a loving Father. Matt Lovell has declared that he will live his life forever changed by that love encounter.

He is healing. Walking better, eating solid food, able to get through his day without quite so much pain. We are so thankful for the prayers of our dear friends and family. Matt's name has echoed through the heavenly realms quite a lot these last few days.... And we are seeing answers to those many prayers. There's plenty of peace and love in this house, and gratitude for all the miracles that have transpired to bring us to this moment. Happy Tuesday everybody! #aliveandsoontobewell #loveencounter

Speaking of his Go Fund Me Page .... Matt does not have health insurance and medical bills and costs associated with his recovery will surely be overwhelming.  His friends set up the page to help out. As with any Go Fund Me Page .. if I don't know the person (or people that started the fund) I can't personally vouch for the need. So give if your heart feels led to do so. Either way .. lifting up/praying is FREE! So with every rep, with every stride, with every ABLE moment you have from the time you read this until I post someone new ... let's LIFT UP AND FOR Matt Lovell.

Matt .. we know that a beautiful story (and maybe even a hit song) is going to come out of this tragic situation. We are lifting up and for you during your recovery!

I hope you are joining me on this PREP WITH PURPOSE journey! If you are ... please post/share and use the hashtag #PrepWithPurpose! Let's get a huge prayer chain going and in the process maybe make the sport of bodybuilding less about "me, me, me" and a little more about helping others! Our motivation doesn't have to come from ONLY ourselves!

If you know anyone that needs urgent or ongoing prayer for any physical reason please email me all the information and a picture (or a few) to simplystacyfitness@yahoo.com.
