Hello Fit Fam,
Happy Thanksgiving Week! I hope each of you have plans to do something special with family or friends! I am so blessed that we will get to spend the day with my in-laws .. as well as my mom who is driving to my in-laws to be with us as well! We will be missing some of our siblings who can't join us .. but we are excited to see everyone!
I hope all of us health nuts can also put the macro calculator, scale and guilt away long enough to enjoy some yummy food! I plan on using my "high day", not tracking and being as mindful as possible on Thursday! I know I'll go over .. but that is okay! I will still hit the gym and likely get in some extra cardio to make up for any excess! like to remind everyone (including myself) that while Thanksgiving is centered around food .. the real reason we gather isn't the turkey, stuffing, creamy casseroles or endless desserts. Remember ... this holiday is all about being together, taking some time to be EXTRA grateful for each other and this gift called LIFE!
PREP WITH PURPOSE: Tragedy In Chattanooga, Tn.
Every single day there is sadness all around us. But we all turn on the news and see "those stories" that are just ... extra tragic. It never fails that one of these "extra tragic" stories pop up near the holiday season.
On November 21, 2016 ... a school bus carrying 35 elementary school children crashed in Tennessee. As of 3am 11/22 .. the count was 6 children dead and 23 injured. Many of those in critical condition. The school bus driver .. charged with five counts of vehicular homicide, reckless endangerment and reckless driving.
I simply can not imagine what these families, the school and this community are going through. Sad ANY time .. but especially heartbreaking right now .. a week that is suppose to be full of love, family and Thanksgiving.
This week .. I will count my blessings one by one .. big and small. I will not complain about hiccups or bumps in the road and instead rejoice that I am alive and able, that my loved ones are here to hug and (many) by my side this week.
The desire to train will be low .. it always is during the holiday season (totally normal.) It will be especially rough here in 4 hours when I have to train on no sleep before getting to the airport. But I will use these sweet children as my motivation. I will not complain.
For many .. life was robbed. For others .. they find themselves fighting for life or laying in a hospital bed. I am certain they would give anything to be up, moving, active and on their way to family/friend gatherings.
I ask that you all join me for PREP WITH PURPOSE this week .. as we lift up and for these children, their families, the school and entire community in mourning.
XoXo,
Stacy
