#PrepWithPurpose -- Day Twenty-Four: Jim

For backstory on what #PrepWithPurpose is all about please read the blog entry and/or Instagram Post.
Hey Friends

I am so nervous writing this. I leave TOMORROW for New Jersey to compete in my first show of the 2016 season .. Team Universe!!! I have a shot in both my open and masters class at earning Pro Status. It's so exciting and nerve wracking at the same time!

I am usually a MESS during travel week. But I feel a bit calmer than normal. I shouldn't .. my to-do list to get out of town is a mile long. Plus there is just so much preparation that goes into traveling for a competition. Preparing all your food, making sure you have it packed correctly and have enough, making sure you have everything you need on/off stage, etc., plus the worry of trying to stay on track while traveling, etc.  ALSO .. my husband had to fly out unexpectedly this morning and gets back just hours before I have to fly OUT. This week is just a lot of emotion and he is my rock (and really the only person I have since I don't have any friends in Vegas yet) .. so it's just hard. Not to mention he isn't able to go with me to this show. So just a little bit of an extra downer. While I ask for prayers for OTHERS on this PREP WITH PURPOSE project .. if you don't mind lifting me up from now until Saturday .. I'd sure appreciate it! While I am calmer than usual .. I still have jitters, etc. So please pray for calm nerves, safe travels, that my body cooperates and dials in, that my celiac/other stomach issues don't flare up, etc.

Yesterday I went on a little jog to start my day. Just to clear my head. Nothing intense. No HIIT or anything like that. I listened to a podcast my coach did with my 1st Phorm team, prayed for my person of the day and just got my mind right. Then after a lonnnnng day of to-do's .. I had my FINAL full upper body lift!!! I was lifting for a young woman named Rebecca that has had to have two brain surgeries because of an aneurysm.

Today for Prep With Purpose I have a somewhat anonymous request. We don't have to have a picture of someone to lift up and in honor of them!

Prep With Purpose - Day Twenty Four: Jim's Battle With Colon Cancer

Jim's story is heartbreaking on multiple levels. Please join me in lifting up and for JIM and his family today!

Jim is 46 years young. Has been fighting colon cancer since 2014 and over the years his cancer has progressed. He has also lost his job and his wife does not work. They have middle school age children. He is currently undergoing another round of chemo in hopes that it shrinks the cancer.. but if it doesn't there is nothing else to be done. His wife is a survivor of breast cancer so they have been fighting this disease in some way ... for a long time! I can only imagine what this must be like for each of them. Having to not only fight cancer themselves, but watch the person they love fight it. And them the kids ... having to deal with not only ONE parent having cancer .. but both?! This entire family needs our thoughts/prayer!

Jim doesn't know me and probably won't ever know that I'm lifting for him today. I found out about him from a friend that is part of his treatment team. But I hope he feels the extra love today.

With every rep I will lift in his honor. I'm joining those that love him in praying that this treatment works and that he finds a job he can do while undergoing treatment so he can financially take care of his family.

I hope you are joining me on this prayer journey as I prep for #TeamU on July 1st & 2nd! If you are please post/share and use the hashtag #PrepWithPurpose! Let's get a huge prayer chain going and in the process maybe make the sport of bodybuilding less about "me, me, me" and a little more about helping others! Our motivation doesn't have to come from ONLY ourselves!

If you know anyone that needs urgent or ongoing prayer for any physical reason please email me all the information and a picture (or a few) to simplystacyfitness@yahoo.com.
