Body Weight Training Expected To Be The Biggest Fitness Trend Of 2015

Move over yoga, zumba and circuit training. Looks like people prefer plyos, HIIT, personal trainers and weights when it comes to getting fit in 2015. 

Can I get an AMEN?! Could it be that people are finally realizing that body weight training (think plyos and plans)...HIIT style cardio (high intensity interval training)...and strength training (lifting weights) are indeed key in seeing your best bod? The answer is YES ... well for now anyway.

Every year for the past nine years, the American College of Sports Medicine has surveyed thousands of health professionals around the globe to determine what's hot in exercise and what's not. For example, Zumba made the top-20 list in 2012 and 2013 but has since dropped off. The experts were asked to consider 39 possible trends for 2015 including the top 25 from last year. So what do the experts think is the big thing for this year? Body-weight training!! Coming in 2nd is HIIT Cardio (which actually came in 1st place last year.) Also in the top 5 -- strength training and hiring a personal trainer!

I'm certainly not saying things like group training and yoga are bad. They are great!!! I am just excited to see these other methods up there on this list! I think people should do whatever they ENJOY! There is no right or wrong way to be healthy. There are arguably healthier, smarter and especially more time efficient ways, but as long as you are moving, burning more calories than you are consuming and taking care of yourself both inside and out, then I think you are winning! I do however hope this encourage people to give things like weight lifting a try! Ladies ... I promise you won't look like a man :)
